Although, the Brigada Eskwela is officially up to May 25th, we still need to continue the unfinished projects like the Alumni Park Proposal. Alumni members from Batch 86 to 89 who were present in the meeting, pledged to support this project. But, any members of the alumni other than the batch previously mentioned are most welcome to help raise funds and donate their time and efforts in this endeavor. “Mas maganda nga mas maraming tumulong. Little by little everyday, nakikita gumaganda yung park.”

DIFFERENT COMMITTEES
We also came up with 10 different committees where the different batches are free to choose where they want to join. And, if alumni are not available to personally participate, their donations (in cash or in kind are also welcome). Below are the committees:

For the spirit of volunteerism and “Bayanihan”, aside from donations (in cash or in kind) that the alumni can pledge, volunteers from members of the alumni to join in the different committees (as mentioned above) are most welcome!

Thank you NHSOC and the alumni members, for all the support. God bless."

2012 NHS Alumni Emergency Meeting Update:

By: Chona Villafuerte-Go NHS Batch '86
NHSOC Site Administrator

NHS Alumni Emergency Meeting
NHSOC is pleased to announce that the recently concluded meeting last Friday, May 11th in connection with the upcoming 2012 NHS Brigada Eskwela activity had been truly rewarding both for the faculty and the alumni present. Mrs. Evelyn Baradas presided the meeting, with a total of 19 participants: alumni from Batch ’73, 77, 78, 82, 86, 87, 88, 89, 95, 98 & 2006, and faculty members including the principal; and it seemed everyone had been open-minded and were willing to help in any ways they are needed. And, I personally think that with the new principal Dr. Proceso T. Lera and the active participation of our alumni members, we’re really going to have an incredibly fun and productive year at our alma mater.
Dr. Proceso T. Lera
We welcome Dr. Proceso T. Lera’s leadership and wish him well in his new role as Novaliches High School principal beginning school year 2012-2013.

Below is the narrative summary of the emergency meeting minutes submitted to NHSOC by Ms. Imee Donguiness Batch ’82 (also, a NHS Faculty member) and Ms. Leah Reyes-Kagahastian Batch ’86:

I. CARAVAN/MOTORCADE: Sunday, May 20th

A. Time:
- Assembly & Registration at Novaliches High School: Begins at 7:00AM
- Start of Caravan/Motorcade: 8:00AM

B. Participating Batch Identification:
- Each vehicle for use in the caravan should have batch identification while each participating alumni should have a unifying shirt color distinctive of the batch they are representing (Example: Batch 82: pink shirt)

C. Brigada Contest: Criteria for the contest is the number of participants, the more alumni members participating the better is our chance of winning. Another criteria for the contest is the amount of donation (in kind/or in cash) that will be raised for the event. Example: For donations of food (refreshments) or other donations in kind, the value cost will be evaluated and included in the overall cash value amount raised.

In fact, the new principal Dr. Lera (Former North Fairview High School principal) shared his prior experience as the proud winner “Hall of Famer” For Brigada, for consecutive years, countrywide division. And with the enthusiasm shown by the alumni members present in the meeting he is confident that Novaliches High School will have a bigger chance this coming Brigada.

Pledges Received:
- Paints: Edwin Ducusin Batch ’86 Chairman dropped by the school and pledged to donate paints.
- Caravan/Motorcade Snacks: Alumni (Batch TBD) pledged to donate snacks for the caravan on Sunday, May 20th.
- Free Clinic (Sponsor TBD)

D. Caravan Route (still for principal approval, for posting soon)

E. Caravan/Motorcade: Yellow cabs will head the procession followed by the alumni batches, etc. After the caravan/motorcade everyone is invited to go back to NHS for a light refreshment and snack.

II. PROPOSAL OF ALUMNI PARK PROJECT:
- Approximate Cost of Project: Php 100,000.00 – Included in the development plan will be cementing the school grounds where the trees with benches are located.

III. BRIGADA ESKWELA ALUMNI PARTICIPATION:

A. Different Committee
- Each alumni/batch can join different committee (below) to help prepare the school as it opens this June:
1. Committee for Clean-up
2. Committee for Repairs
3. Committee for Repainting of chairs & blackboards
4. Committee for Installation of barbwires for the fence
5. Committee for de-clogging of drainage
6. Committee for Repainting of walls and gate
7. Committee for Repainting of school canteen & rehabilitation
8. Committee for Electrical repairs
9. Committee for Masonry work
10. Committee for Refreshments : This is expected to be costly because of the large number of expected participant (approximately about 70++ each day), different batch are suggested to combine their efforts or join together to sponsor a day of lunch or snack for the participants)

B. Brigada Eskwela Weeklong activity (May 21-25)

- Monday, May 21: All alumni members are requested to be present during the launching program.
- Tuesday-Friday (May 22-25): Alumni members are also requested to participate and join the different committee.
- Donations: in kind (painting, cleaning & gardening materials) / or in cash are highly appreciated; Donations for refreshments (snack, lunch, drinks for the participants) are also requested.

Batch '74 Joins Brigada Closing Ceremony (May 22, 2009)

By Editha Alix Magat Batch '74
Batch '74 Brigada Coordinator

Attended by a number of parents, students, faculty members and staff, and other volunteers, Batch '74 was also priviledged to attend the Brigada Eskwela closing ceremony last May 22nd. Prior to that day, last Wednesday, May 20th when I joined NHSOC's Brigada visit, I was informed by Mrs. Nora Torres that today's ceremony, (scheduled on the last day of the week-long Brigada) will start at 8am. Yet, when most of our Batch arrived past 9am (like myself and Vicky), lucky for us the program has not even started. It was Rey Nepomuceno who arrived first at NHS and saw him seated already, at the bleachers with some of the participating parents and students.

Those who were present in order of their arrival:
Rey Nepomuceno (IV-Cordillera)
Edith Alix Magat (Cordillera)
Vicky Analupa Bigcas (Kanlaon)
Redentor Cruz (Kanlaon)
Danny Daez (Cordillera)
Ed Bautista (Kanlaon)
Connie Santos Germar (Cordillera)
President Anselmo "Moi" Garcia (Makiling)
Sitong Tomas (Sierra Madre)
Romero "Momi" Valenzuela, newfound batchmate(Sierra Madre)
Billy Abesamis (Makiling)
Rey Dumo (Mayon)

Program:

1. Sir Gilore Ofrancia, Guidance Counselor for boys, (also the program host), welcomed all the participants of BRIGADA ESKWELA who were present that Friday morning.
2. Singing of the National anthem
3. Prayer of thanks and blessings led by Joey Boy Gapson, representative from the SSG

4. Short message from Mrs. Nora Torres, Assistant principal for School Affairs, reported on the improvement of the NHS campus.
5. Faculty members reported on what they have accomplished within the week-long BRIGADA ESKWELA.
6. A representative from the student body also reported about their participation.
7. Redentor Cruz, 2008 Batch '74 President-elect - reported on the NHSOC's participation on many NHS activities (which you can also read in details at NHSOC website "Giving Back" webpage at www.nhsoc.info and NHSOC Forums at www.nhsoc.yabbers.com)
8. Anselmo "Moi" Garcia, 2009 Batch '74 President elect - reported on the participation of Batch '74: Donation of computer tables, paints and feeding the Brigada volunteers for the past two years, etc.
9. Before ending the program, I was surprised to be called in front by Sir Gilore to say something about NHSOC. I can't remember the exact words of what i said but this is what I remembered saying:
"An alumna from Batch 86, who is based in America, Chona Villafuerte Go, created a website for the alumni of NHS. It is through this website that we, graduates of NHS once again have communicated with fellow batchmates after so many years and developed friendships with other graduates from different batches. It also created a bridge connecting the graduates to our alma mater. That is why we are now with you during BRIGADA ESKWELAS and other activities. In behalf of the members of NHSOC, we are thanking Miss Chona Go for creating NHS On-line Community (NHSOC) and I would also like to thank my batchmates who are with me today to offer you some help. Thank you too, to NHS faculty and staff for giving us the chance to help in our own little way, and for the improvement of our alma mater. Good morning everyone."
10. Principal Dra. Noemi Moncada had the closing remarks - thanking all those who participated in this year's BRIGADA ESKWELA and appealing for continous support in many NHS activities.

It was another successful Brigada participation for Novaliches High School On-line Community. NHSOC Batch '80 Representatives & Batch 1974 Joins Brigada Eskwela 2008!

PhotobucketBy Cherrylene "Wendy" Viola Monreal Batch 1980
NHSOC Brigada Eskwela Coordinator In-charge

Torres at Bb. Kaya naman first year section 1, agad ako!"..hehehe)

Gorgeous" at si papable Kuya Pres Reden, "hello! big man". "Happy Birthday! Kuya Mer!"
